The Automation Audit

It's a fixed-fee assessment, not a sales pitch. We look at how your business really runs, then hand you a clear, prioritized plan: the tasks worth automating, ranked by time saved versus effort, with honest ballpark estimates and a recommended place to start.

You're paying for 25 years of judgment about what's technically achievable and which path actually fits your business — not for a single AI prompt.

A leaner analysis covering the same essentials with a quicker turnaround at a lower price. Uses AI tools to move faster where appropriate. Best when you want a clear starting point without the full deep-dive.

Why it's structured this way

💡 Credit toward implementation: If you choose to move forward with us within 30 days of receiving your report, the full audit fee ($675 or $425) is credited against your first implementation project — no partial credit, no fine print.

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to the questions people actually ask before booking.

Getting Started
Most of the time, you'll work directly with me — the same person who scopes your quote is the one doing the work, with no account managers or handoffs in between. On occasion, if my available hours and your desired timeline don't line up, I'll bring in a trusted US-based developer I've worked with before to take on the bulk of the development. If that's the case, it will be disclosed up front, before the project begins — never a surprise partway through.
Three perspectives make the call most useful: the stakeholder who ordered the audit, the person with the most technical knowledge of the systems involved, and the primary user(s) who live with the current process day to day and can explain the workarounds and exceptions. They don't all have to be different people — but the more of these viewpoints in the room, the sharper the report.
A short list of the tasks that frustrate you most, any sample reports or exports the process produces, and someone who can show how the systems work today. The more concrete the examples, the better the recommendations.
The audit fee is paid in full upfront, which keeps things simple and reserves your spot. We accept credit/debit card, ACH/bank transfer, check, or cash. If you move to implementation within 30 days, the full fee is credited toward it.
The Audit & Your Report
Everything gathered during our call, the technical limitations found during research, and a range of options — from a lean, budget-friendly approach with fewer built-in safeguards, up to a fully robust, redundant build. Where relevant, options cover hosting, error handling, reporting, security, and redundancy, so there's something to fit most budgets and a clear view of the trade-offs at each level.
Typically about a week for an Express audit and about two weeks for a Comprehensive one, confirmed with you at the kickoff. The clock starts once we have everything we need from you — so if a few follow-up questions come out of the kickoff, the timeline begins once those are answered.
Yes. Additional systems are handled as an extra audit block at the same rate, so the depth and quality stay consistent rather than being stretched thin.
Fair question — here's the honest answer. AI is one of the tools I use, the same way any professional uses the tools of their trade. What you're paying for isn't typing; it's the judgment to know which automation paths are actually achievable for your business, and when an AI-generated answer is right versus when it needs to be thrown out and reworked. A real audit isn't one prompt — it's a series of conversations that converge on options built for your situation. The Comprehensive tier leans more on hand-research and verification; the Express tier uses AI to move faster at a lower price. Either way, a human who knows the difference reviews everything before it reaches you. Going fully "AI-free" isn't realistic today — even a web search now returns AI output that has to be checked — so I'm transparent about where it's used rather than pretending otherwise.
The report gives you honest estimates of what it would actually take to build — time, cost, and complexity. What you do with that is entirely up to you. Some clients move forward immediately; others decide the timing isn't right yet, or that they'd rather wait until a specific milestone is reached. Either outcome is a win: you're making that call with real numbers in hand, not a gut feeling.
No. The report is yours to keep and use with any developer you like. If you'd like me to build it, that's a separate quote, with no pressure either way.
If You Move Forward
That's quoted per project once the scope is set — it depends entirely on what you choose to build. The turnaround on the audit applies to the report, not the build.
That's your choice — we'll lay out the ownership options in the quote so you can pick what fits, whether that's full ownership transferred to you or a licensed arrangement.

A non-exclusive license can deliver significant savings in both cost and time: where prior work from other projects can be adapted and reused, we can pass those efficiencies on to you rather than rebuilding from scratch.

An exclusive license or full ownership transfer involves a few more considerations — which open-source or proprietary licenses are permissible for any tools and libraries involved, whether AI can be used in development and under what constraints, and any other requirements you bring to the table. We'll work through all of that with you upfront so there are no surprises.
Yes. If you select us, we offer a 1–2 business-day response time, excluding published holidays. We don't currently offer 24/7 support.
Yes, as an option — we can own and maintain the solution on your behalf. We also support self-hosting if you'd rather keep it in-house.
You do, always. Your data is exportable and handed back to you on request if you ever decide to move on.
Trust & Transparency
During the audit, systems are reviewed observationally rather than hands-on, and I'm glad to sign an NDA before we begin. Your information stays confidential.
Any technology or company we recommend is one we have direct experience with or have researched extensively. We don't currently receive referral fees from anyone — and if that ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly in any quote or report we provide.
Yes. We're happy to talk with your team and quote a full design they can then modify and build from. You get the architecture and direction; your developers handle the implementation.

What Would You Automate
If You Knew It Was Worth It?

An Automation Audit tells you exactly that — for a flat fee, with no obligation to build.
